The UK Resuscitation Council recommends that every school child should be taught CPR to improve survival rates of cardiac arrest victims. There are around 30,000 out of hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year and currently less that 10% of people survive an out of hospital cardiac arrest. You never know when someone is going to fall ill or get injured so it is vitally important that children have the skills and confidence to help deal with an emergency situation.

Mini Medics is a fun and interactive session designed to be a basic introduction into first aid for children aged between 7 and 11. I can design a session of any length to meet the needs of your group of children.

Suggested 90 minute session for KS2;

  • Responsibilities of a first aider

  • Calling the emergency services

  • Primary survey

  • Recovery position

  • CPR & defibrillators

  • Choking

2 Hour 30 Minute session;

  • Content as above plus…

  • First Aid Kit Contents

  • Wounds & Bandaging

  • Burns

  • Fractures

I can also offer first aid skills for younger children in KS1. Whilst at home if a family members falls ill, it may be up to children to call for an ambulance and this shorter session is focused on a first aider keeping themselves self safe and calling an ambulance and being able to answer some simple questions for the ambulance service.

The children were engaged from start to finish. They came out of the session buzzing and confident to use their newly acquired lifesaving skills. They are already asking when the next session will be.

Joe is fabulous. The children love his sessions and learn so much from them. Thank you Joe for teaching the children these vital skills. They always come away confident and so proud of their achievements.
